| Edith Oliver, best known as theater critic for the New Yorker, was an institution at the O'Neill from the very beginning. The outdoor theater named in her memory sits under two copper beech trees and is the theater where August Wilson's Fences was first performed during the 1983 National Playwright's Conference. The Edith is used for NPC performances, company gatherings, and as a rehearsal and performance space for the National Theater Institute. |

| Blue Gene's Pub is a place where, since the 70's, members of the O'Neill could gather with conference artists for conversation and libation during the busy summer months. The Pub is now open to the public during the summer. After the first performance of each conference production, it is tradition that a signed program be ÒpinnedÓ in the Pub. Programs from the 80's to the present are on display. |

| Named in honor of long-time O'Neill supporter Dina Merrill, screen and stage icon, and her husband, Ted Hartley after extensive renovations to the space in the 1990's. James enjoyed such great success in that role, he named the family's summer home after the character. The Monte Cristo Cottage, where Eugene O'Neill set Long Day's Journey Into Night and Ah, Wilderness!, is a Registered National Landmark open to the public for tours between Memorial Day and Labor Day. |

Walnut Grove, as it has come to be known, is ten acres overlooking Long Island Sound on the beautiful Southeastern Connecticut coast. Walnut Grove is home to the O'Neill summer Conferences, the National Theater Institute, and is in operation year-round for various residencies, programs, and special events. |
