2009 Commercial Theater Institute Summer Workshop at the O'NeillThe Commercial Theater Institute, now in its 28th year, is a project of Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and The Broadway League. Dedicated to training the next generation of commercial theater producers, CTI provides resources and guidance to individuals interested in the various paths one can take towards creating commercial productions for the stage. A five day, hands-on intensive program, in which pairs of participants will develop business plans for each of the plays and musicals selected for the O'Neill Summer Conference. The experience will be a mixture of lectures, one-on-one sessions, interaction with writers and directors, and group discussion. The curriculum and setting provide a unique opportunity to interact with artists and understand the process of creative development. The program will be led by Tom Viertel, O'Neill Board Chair and Broadway Producer, and Jed Bernstein, CTI Program Director and Broadway Producer, along with an all-star faculty from the New York theatre community. The 2008 session will be held from Wednesday, July 8th, to Sunday, July 12th, on the beautiful O'Neill Theater Center Campus in Waterford, CT, overlooking the Long Island Sound. Tuition, which includes all meals is $800. Participants need to arrange housing at their own expense. We have, however, arranged discounted rates and a shuttle service at two area hotels. The program will be limited to twelve participants and we expect application to be highly competitive. The deadline for applications is Thursday May 15th, with decisions announced by Friday May 23rd. Applications may be found at the CTI Website |
